What is Verification and Why Does It Matter?

Big companies pay for your opinions. It’s why we exist. But our brand partners want actual opinions from real people, not from bots or fraudsters, not from someone in Moscow pretending to be in Milwaukee. Fraud drives down the value of real opinions like yours. So we have anti-fraud systems that use several methods to check for this. This verification mechanism ensures we get reliable data, you get more qualified surveys (which means higher payouts), and the entire platform stays trustworthy for everyone. But this leads to another problem. Our human panelists sometimes get rejected by the verification process. Not because they’re doing anything wrong, but because some actual human behaviors can look suspicious, even if they aren’t. So here are 12 things that matter to our fraud detection system and what they mean for your earning potential.

1. Read Each Question Carefully

Our system tracks survey completion speed. Surveys completed in 90 seconds or less are flagged as potential rush-through responses. Same with surveys taking 3x longer than median (which suggests confusion or distraction). Taking time to read leads to more natural completion times which in turn leads to faster approvals and your answers get weighted higher by researchers. This directly impacts which surveys you qualify for in the future.

2. No Mindless Zombies – Watch For Attention-Check Questions

Attention checks embedded in surveys (“Select option 4 if you’re paying attention“) aren’t tricks. They’re filters. Failing even one triggers an automatic survey failure and can flag your account if it becomes a pattern. Passing all attention checks proves you’re genuinely engaged. This is a big factor in how panelists maintain high approval rates and stay qualified for premium surveys with higher payouts.

3. Be Honest (Your Consistency Is Valuable Data)

Fraud detection flags inconsistencies. If Survey A says you’re 28 and earn $60-80K, but Survey B says you’re 45 and earn $100-120K, automated review kicks in. These discrepancies suggest either bot behavior or someone reselling account access. Consistent answers equals faster approvals and zero verification headaches. Honest demographic data makes you more valuable to researchers, so you’ll qualify for more surveys.

4. Keep Responses Clear and Coherent

Open-ended responses that don’t make logical sense (contradictory statements, gibberish, non-sequiturs) are how verification systems identify bot-generated text or people not actually reading questions. Clear, logical responses equals a higher quality score which leads to priority access to better surveys. Researchers remember panelists with solid written feedback.

5. Use Respectful Language

Surveys flagged for offensive language get rejected and reviewed manually. If there’s a pattern, your account gets escalated for deeper verification. Clean responses mean instant approvals and no manual review delays. Panelists with consistently respectful feedback get invited to higher-paying research projects.

6. Use Your Real Location and Connection (Not a VPN)

This is the big one. Fraud detection matches your IP location to your profile location in real-time. If you claim to be in San Diego but your IP is bouncing between Portugal, Singapore, and Kentucky, the system flags it immediately. VPNs create location mismatches, even if you’re just protecting privacy. Your real location data also makes you valuable for location-specific studies (restaurant feedback for local chains, regional product testing, etc.), which often pay more.

7. Use Your Personal Secure Connection

Shared Wi-Fi networks (coffee shops, libraries, school networks) show up as multiple users from the same IP. The fraud detection system sees this and flags it as “suspicious multiple accounts.” Even though you’re just one person, the system can’t tell that. Personal connection means zero false flags and your surveys approve without manual review. Also, faster loading times and better security for your personal data.

8. Maintain One Account Only

Even creating a test account looks like fraud. Fraud detection ties accounts together via device fingerprinting, IP history, and email patterns. If we detect duplicates, both get suspended while we investigate. One clean account means no risk of account loss. Also, a single trusted account builds earning potential over time; your profile history, quality rating, and consistency compound into access to higher-paying surveys.

9. Keep Your Profile Current

Profile changes that don’t make sense (age jumping years, household size fluctuating, income brackets changing monthly) look like account sharing or identity fraud. An up-to-date profile will have 70% better matching with surveys which in turn leads to way more qualified invites and higher earnings. Remember, these surveys always target specific demographics. If your profile is stale or vague, you’ll miss opportunities designed for you.

10. Survey Only in Eligible Countries

Again, geography matters. Researchers target specific countries because that’s where they make their marketing decisions. If your account is registered in Canada but you’re taking surveys from Brazil, that’s a mismatch we flag immediately. Staying in eligible countries ensures zero verification friction and access to country-specific surveys that often pay better because they’re more targeted.

11. Disable Ad Blockers

Some surveys use pixel tracking to verify you actually completed questions. Ad blockers break this. The system shows you completed it, but the quality verification never triggered. With ad blockers off, surveys verify cleanly. This is an easy fix that solves a surprising number of false disqualification issues.

12. Keep Your Browser Updated

We check browser versions as part of the device fingerprinting process. An outdated browser version can indicate an unmanaged device, or worse, one compromised by malware. Having the latest browser means security for your personal data and zero device fingerprinting issues.

The Bottom Line

Our verification process isn’t designed to be difficult. We want as many real people taking our surveys as possible. When we reduce fraud and bot responses, brands get better data. When brands get better data, they pay more for surveys and run more studies. More studies means more opportunities for our members. Ready to start earning?
